Are DVD files.
VOB are mpeg2 files which QuickTime player can not play directly (error -2048). Apple sell a $20 MPEG2 component for QuickTime.
Before purchasing Apple's codec, you may also try Perian
Alternatively you can use VLC to view it or ffmpegX to convert it.
