- Why did visitors come to my web site
- Why do they download my software
- Why do they need to do what my applications offer
Google Analytics is a OK tool for showing me which pages are popular, which order they are read and if they end in serving a download of my apps.
This is useful, but far from ideal. Like the "Why" story by C. K. Louis. Email conversations tell me far more about how my software is used and how I can improve it.
I have stopped (may 2015) using Crazy Egg. The heat maps for my web pages are fine for now.
Heat maps can me made with cookies. They tell where visitors click on my web pages. I may prevent losing visitors (possible customers!) by showing the most relevant information, and by removing what distracts.
This Heat map is made with software form Crazy Egg.
I am trying out (July 2015) AddThis as an alternative to Google Analytics
By not popping up yet an other annoying "accept cookies" question I may not comply with cookie rules, but I hope version 2.0 of those rules will become less annoying and more useful.
