Empty Files - How to Verify
- Check the size of your file in Finder. If Finder tells you that its size is 0 bytes, that is as certain as you can get that the file is empty. If it is a photo containing only zeroes, it may still take up plenty of disk space. You can try to compress it to a zip file. A rule of thumb is that 5 million zeroes compress into a 5000 bytes zip file.
- Get a Hex Editor app. Open your file and verify that it contains zeoes.
